Michigan Municipal League Workers’ Compensation Fund
This League group self-insurance fund offers affordable workers’ compensation coverage to over 900 members. Unlike commercial insurance, the Fund is owned and controlled by its members and administered by the Michigan Municipal League. Over the last five years, the Fund has issued $58.3 million in dividends, representing about 35% of members’ premiums during the same period.
Michigan Municipal League Liability & Property Pool
The Liability & Property Pool is a non-profit self-insurance pool owned and governed by its members. The Pool provides comprehensive property, general liability, auto liability, public officials’ liability insurance, and related services to over 400 Michigan cities, villages, townships, and other public entities. Over the last five years, the Pool has issued $9.8 million in dividends, representing about 9% of members’ premiums during the same period.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Partnership
The Michigan Municipal League exclusively endorses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) health insurance programs. Our partnership with BCBSM amplifies the voices of local government and League members while helping control member dues. Even the smallest member communities may participate, there is no extra cost involved, and members may select any BCBSM insurance plan for which they are otherwise eligible.
Michigan Municipal League Unemployment Compensation Fund
The League’s unemployment fund can help members deal more effectively with their unemployment claims. This program helps smooth out a community’s unemployment funding obligations by amortizing them over a longer period of time. We also offer expertise through our third-party administrator, TALX Corporation, to guide participating members through the unemployment process. Part of the services includes representation in disputed cases and throughout the appeals process at no additional charge.
