The Michigan Municipal League exclusively endorses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) health insurance programs. Our partnership with BCBSM amplifies the voices of local government and League members while helping control League member dues.

Who can participate

Members of the Michigan Municipal League and/or the Michigan Townships Association. Authorities and entities classified as part of the members’ governing body generally qualify as well.

How to participate

Members need only ask their insurance agent to indicate membership in the Michigan Municipal League during the BCBSM enrollment process.

Agents

Members may use any licensed insurance agent they prefer, as long as the agent is contracted with BCBSM. If your entity needs help locating an agent, reach out to the League’s Engagement Specialist at BCBSM, Shannon Nolan.

Insurance Plans

Members may select any BCBSM insurance plan for which they are otherwise eligible—participation has no effect on plan eligibility. (Note: entities remain subject to any existing bargaining agreements.)

Administration

Members deal directly with BCBSM regarding all claims, coverage, billing, and administrative matters, just as they would with any insurance carrier.

Cost

None. Members’ insurance premiums are not affected by participation and there are no additional charges.

Registering as a League member when enrolling with BCBSM supports a partnership that amplifies the voices of members while helping keep League membership dues as low as possible.
