The Michigan Municipal League is the one clear voice for Michigan communities. Through advocacy at the state and federal level, we proactively represent municipalities to help them sustain highly livable, desirable and unique places within the state. We create and offer our members services and events ranging from traditional to cutting edge to help educate and inspire them to remain focused on their passion for the area they represent. We are a non-profit, but we act with the fervor of entrepreneurs; our people are dynamic, energetic and highly approachable, passionately and aggressively pushing change for better communities.
The League advocates on behalf of its member communities in Lansing, Washington DC and the courts; provides educational opportunities for elected and appointed municipal officials; and assists municipal leaders in administering services to their communities through League programs and services.
In 1899 a handful of municipal leaders volunteered to build and support a cooperative organization for other local practitioners to exchange information; develop unified policies on municipal issues and; to speak as a collective voice on local matters. The League has since developed into the statewide association for cities, villages and urban townships, representing 98 percent of possible members.
