The Michigan Department of Treasury’s Local Audit and Finance Division is issuing an updated Uniform Budget Manual that was revised in April 2024.

The Uniform Budget Manual assists local units of government in applying legal requirements and establishing a sound budgeting process. Recommended practices that would enhance the budgeting process are also included.

The Michigan Department of Treasury received public comments on the exposure draft of the Uniform Budget Manual that was issued on January 22, 2024, and made changes accordingly. The majority of the changes were formatting updates.

Effective Date: This manual is effective for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and after.
