Yesterday Representatives Hugh Crawford (Novi) and Harold Haugh (Roseville) announced that they will be heading up a new four-person House workgroup to look at the state’s fireworks law. The workgroup is expected to look at a few issues including reducing the types of fireworks available and limiting the dates that they can be fired off. Representatives Wayne Schmidt (Traverse City) and David Rutledge (Ypsilanti) will also be on the workgroup.
Additionally, League staff had a good meeting this past week with Representative Haugh and will continue to provide input to the legislature on this issue. The League will continue to stay on top of these discussions and provide regular updates on any further developments.
