Along with the League, communities across Michigan continue to voice their opposition to recent legislation (HBs 5529-32 & HB 5581-5585) that would strip local governments of their decision-making ability when it comes to housing. Several communities around the state have also passed resolutions expressing their opposition. Sample resolutions will all be available on our Resources & Research page of our website, but we have included a few here for reference.
City of Mount Clemens Resolution
We encourage you to continue to be active in your opposition and adopt a resolution opposing this legislation. Once adopted, share it with your legislators, the governor, your residents, and others that may be concerned about the erosion of local decision-making as a way to support our efforts to push back against this legislation.
If your community has passed a resolution expressing your opposition to these bills, please send a copy to [email protected] for our records.
The League appreciates all the hard work our members have done in holding off the legislation to this point and will continue to fight to maintain our ability to keep local decisions local.
