Revisions have been made to the Uniform Law Citations and Commercial Law Citation pursuant to the recently passed jails task force legislation that are effective as of April 1, 2021. Revisions include:

• Adding a field box for the defendant’s cell number (per SB 1046)
• Adding a field box for the defendant’s email address (per SB 1046)
• Changing “will” to “may” as it relates to language regarding a defendant’s failure to answer the citation that may result in the issuance of a warrant (SB 1047)
• Including a space for Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) (per MCL 257.328(5))

While this is the direction that the group agreed upon, final versions of the citations have not yet been fully approved.

Additionally, there will likely be additional revisions to the citations pursuant to changes under House Bills 5846-5852, House Bill 6235, and Senate Bills 1046-1051 that is effective October 1, 2021.
