Transportation and Dredging Bills Move Forward in the House

Posted on March 19, 2013 by Dene Westbrook

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation moved the transportation budget forward today, HB 4226, without the $1.2 billion increase in funding Governor Snyder’s budget recommended. Without a concrete approach to increasing transportation funding to fix Michigan’s roads, the committee decided it was best to move a budget forward that only dealt with real money and not dollars that are assumed to be there at some point. The League did not take an official position on the budget that passed committee today but is committed to working with the Legislature to find a responsible funding solution that will provided locals with the opportunity to create great places.

The House Natural Resources Committee moved SB 252 out of committee today. The League supports Senator Brandenburg’s effort to address the dredging needs in Michigan.
