The Michigan Municipal League and the Brookings Institute worked together to bring Bruce Katz to Michigan for a series of meetings which included a presentation in front of the Michigan House Commerce Committee on Wednesday May 23. Katz spoke to the committee on the recent Business Leaders for Michigan Urban Strategies Report in which Brookings helped prepare. Click Here for the report. Katz focused many of his comments on the potential for effective public-private support for urban rejuvenation in the form of proposed innovation districts. He also discussed the establishment of a “21st Centrury Places Fund” to help fund such projects.
