Local Grade Separation Program – Call for Projects

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is pleased to announce the solicitation of applications for candidate projects for the Local Grade Separation Program. Selected projects may be funded during 2027-2029 fiscal years (FY). Do not submit projects that cannot commit to beginning construction by FY 2029. The applications can be submitted by the local agency owner or their consultant. There is a limit of 1 application from any local agency. An agency must be able to fund its portion of all applications submitted during the fiscal year in which they are submitted.
The Local Grade Separation Program budget is estimated at $40,000,000 each year for FYs 2026 through 2030. It is anticipated that up to $80,000,000 of selections will be made during this call, with any remaining funding rolling over to a subsequent call next fiscal year. This amount may be subject to revisions.
All applications are to be electronically submitted by December 1st, 2026. Applications can be submitted electronically using [email protected]. The application file size is limited to 10MB.
