MI Home Program – From Proposal to Introduced Bills
By: Jennifer Rigterink, March 9, 2026

We are excited to announce the introduction of the MI Home Program legislation last week in the Michigan House of Representatives. It enables a powerful partnership between local governments and the state to improve access to housing that is attainable for residents. It supports investment to accelerate housing construction and rehabilitation, while also promoting updates to local zoning regulations that will both measurably increase housing supply and address affordability.

House Bill 5660 and 5661 are championed by Rep. Mark Tisdel (R-Rochester Hills) and Rep. Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) along with a dozen bi-partisan co-sponsors. The bills have been referred to the House government operations committee.  Click here to read our press release on the introduction of the legislation.

We continue to gather support from local elected and appointed leaders, developers, organizations, and private individuals. Sign up here to support the program moving forward.
