EV Charging Infrastructure: Federal Request for Information

Posted on December 2, 2021 by Dene Westbrook

The League would like to call your attention to a Notice and Request for Information (RFI) on “Development of Guidance for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Deployment” that was published by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in a recent edition of the Federal Register (86 FR 67782, Nov. 29, 2021).

The Notice includes a summary of the Department’s obligations under the bipartisan infrastructure law to develop guidance for “important new programs to address climate change by reducing carbon emissions,” including the National EV Charging Program and the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program.

The Notice seeks public comment on the establishment of national EV charging infrastructure. Stakeholders are encouraged to offer their comments within 60 days – please note that FHWA is especially interested in comments suggesting ways that the guidance could promote equity in the deployment of EV charging infrastructure.

John LaMacchia is the Assistant Director of State and Federal Affairs for the League handling transportation, infrastructure, energy and environment issues. He can be reached at [email protected] or 517-908-0303.
