Fully Funded Fire Protection Grant Payments Scheduled

Posted on November 15, 2019 by Dene Westbrook

The Local Community Stabilization Authority voted today to approve more than $27 million for nearly 60 municipalities that host state universities, prisons, or other large state buildings to help reimburse for costs related to fire protection services for those state facilities.  These grant distributions are scheduled to be delivered by November 30th from the LCSA and represent full funding of the statutory formula for these communities for the first time in at least 15 years.  The $27.2 million distribution is double the amount that was appropriated in FY2019 and from her on out will no longer be subject to the annual legislative budget process, marking two significant victories for these eligible communities.

The FY2020 distribution amounts approved today can be viewed here – Fire Protection Payments.FY20.
