In 2017, Michigan’s population increased for the sixth consecutive year and for the first time in 17 years, more people moved to the state than from the state. Overall, the population of Michigan has increased by 0.9 percent since 2010. This is a relatively small gain, but this continued progress will likely see the state cross the 10 million mark according to Eric Guthrie, State Demographer and Michigan’s liaison with the U.S. Census Bureau.  “We need to be doing all we can to make Michigan an attractive place to move to instead of one to move from so that the projected population increases will be realized.” Guthrie said.
