Michigan Municipal League CEO and Executive Director Dan Gilmartin will speak at the Engaging Local Government Leaders’ (ELGL) Milwaukee Pop Up Conference in Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 12.
This is one of three national public speaking opportunities that Gilmartin will be doing on various topics this month. Gilmartin also was the keynote speaker at the Oklahoma Water & Pollution Control Conference (OWPCC) taking place at Rose State College in Oklahoma City, Oct. 8-11, and the keynote speaker Oct. 4 at the Vermont League of Cities & Towns annual Town Fair conference.
At the Wisconsin conference, Gilmartin will speak along with Jerry Deschane, executive director of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities. Their topic will be “Building Strong Communities, Inside & Out”.
Gilmartin is an internationally known expert on the concept of placemaking and other municipal issues and has conducted presentations all over the world, including in Australia, Sweden and the Netherlands.
The Milwaukee #ELGLPopUps event is hosted at the Milwaukee School of Continuing Education (SCE). SCE is the largest provider of professional development in Southeastern Wisconsin. ELGL aims to engage the brightest minds in local government and this event in Milwaukee is one of for PopUps happening on Oct. 12. The others are taking place in Oregon, California and Florida.
Here are some details about the PopUps: #ELGLPopUps conferences are multiple conferences, held on the same day, in multiple cities. This year’s theme is Choose Your Own Local Gov Adventure which is reflected in the agenda for each location. Each location will have a diverse agenda focusing on everything from policing, to elected service, to libraries and everything in between.
#ELGLPopUps allow ELGL members to choose a conference location that is convenient for their travel and budget, while still uniting our members in a conference experience across the country.
Other topics being covered at the Milwaukee conference include development and transportation planning, “Our Winding Roads to #GovLove”, creating a movement in your community and local government’s other voice.
