The Michigan Municipal League’s Capital Conference is our organization’s most important legislative event of the year and this year’s Capital Conference was certainly no exception. And the vast news coverage resulting from this year’s conference reflected this importance.

This year’s conference, March 20-21 at the Lansing Center in Lansing, saw our largest attendance in about a decade. More than 500 officials from all corners of the state – from Ironwood to Monroe and every place in between – attended sessions about municipal finance, the medical marijuana issue, retiree health insurance, roads and infrastructure, smart cities, the latest hot topics in Lansing and much more.

There were also numerous awards, recognition and honors given during the conference. We even launched some new initiatives, including the 1650project and the new branding, website and vision for the Michigan Women in Municipal Government organization. During the conference, the League conducted several podcast interviews for our We Love Where You Live podcast series, held a press conference about the 1650 Project  and wrote and distributed more than a dozen press releases about these awards and new programs. You can view the releases here on our press release page: http://www.mml.org/newsroom/index.html.

We’re tracking the coverage here on this page on our Capital Conference website, but you can also view it on the list below. View the hundreds of photos from Capital Conference here.
