This week House Tourism Committee took testimony on House Bill 4299 sponsored by Representative Bumstead. This legislation would allow for Counties, Townships, and Municipalities, to adopt ordinances to allow for the use of ORVs on roads under their jurisdiction. The League supports this bill in concept but is working with the sponsor on a couple of changes.
We have asked that if a County or a Townships is going to consider adopting an ordinance that they send notice to the Municipalities within that County. Our second request was to have language within the bill that specifically allows Municipalities to adopt ordinances to close roads within their municipality to the use of ORVs. Each of these request were well received and we are hopeful that bill will reflect these request. Assuming that these request are met the League will officially support this legislation.
