League Encourages Members to Attend Local Transportation Town Hall Meetings

Posted on March 8, 2013 by Dene Westbrook

The Michigan Municipal League would like to encourage members to attend town hall meetings on transportation funding in your area. This issue remains front and center in the legislature and we have the opportunity to help shape the conversation. Individual legislators need to hear form us on this issue. Let them know that for far too long they have ignored the need to fund roads and that is just not good enough.

Ask these legislators how they expect to build communities people want to live and work in if more money isn’t diverted to our locals. Question their commitment to attracting and retaining talent if they don’t help create vibrant downtowns. Stress the importance of having a transportation system that is built from the local level up and is based around designs that could include public transit, bikeability and walkability. Finding more transportation funding is critical to the future development of Michigan but if we don’t increase funding to our local communities everyone loses, and we need your help spreading that message to elected officials in Lansing.

Below are the dates, times and locations, of town halls being held across the sate by members of the legislature. Please consider attending.
