Mayors Day of Recognition of National Service

Posted on February 18, 2013 by Dene Westbrook

The Michigan Association of Mayors Board is excited to share an opportunity coming this spring for mayors to recognize important contributions of national service in their community. A Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 across the country, thanks to a special joint effort between the Federal Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The goal is to highlight the impact of AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and other national service programs in tackling local problems and managing volunteers for greater impact, and to thank national service members for their commitment. Community leaders can participate in a variety of ways. Read more about the event and what you can do to participate here.

Mayors can also participate in the nationwide celebration of the Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service by registering online at www.nationalservice.gov/mayorsforservice and clicking on the “Sign Up Today!” button.
