New Personal Property Tax Plan Released by Lt Governor Calley

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Dene Westbrook

Lt. Governor Brian Calley has revealed his newest plan to eliminate and replace the personal property tax. The proposal will take parts of the plan that passed the Senate back in March and add additional components. The League’s position continues to be full and guaranteed replacement for the personal property tax. Based upon several of the components, including the need for a statewide vote of the people, we do not think this new plan represents a guarantee for our members.  The Replace Don’t Erase Coalition has sent a letter to Lt Gov Calley detailing concerns. Please contact your legislators and let them know how critical PPT replacement is for our communities. More. Read a Detroit Free Press article on the PPT issue.
