Design Presentation/Workshop & Pop-up Placemaking

Lots of exciting activities took place Aug. 18-19 as we get closer to a complete vision for Dwight Pete Mitchell City Center Park. On Aug. 18, the community came together once again to view a presentation on the latest design proposal from the MSU team, followed by energetic discussion on where the plan needs to go from here.

Group-in-chairs-300x200The next day, during the weekly farmers market, the League set up a pop-up placemaking event to give people a little flavor of what the park can become. Comfy, colorful seating invited people of all ages to relax in the sun or enjoy a delicious taco from the nearby food truck. For anyone with more energetic activities in mind, there was everything from badminton to hula hoops to soccer balls.

The proposed design plans for the park were also on display and we invited further feedback from the community. A final presentation and report on the park plan will take place in October.

What We’ve Done So Far

Community Visioning and Design Workshops

After collecting hundreds of ideas, concerns, and comments about Dwight Pete Mitchell City Center Park at the Visioning Session in April, MSU’s design team digested all of the feedback and returned in June with two draft drawings of what the park could look like in coming years. More feedback was gathered so the team can refine the design plans and capture the community’s desires for the park.
