Situated near a new riverwalk on the Thornapple River, canoe livery, and farmer’s marketplace doubling as an ice rink in winter, the lot at 115 E. Main Street is in the heart of the Village of Middleville. Located across the street from a mixed-use historic building actively under rehab and between the Village Hall and a popular restaurant, this municipally-owned vacant lot is the site of a former hotel.
The League used funds from the RRC Predevelopment Assistance technical assistance program to work with a multi-talented team from East Arbor Architecture and Land Use USA, under the leadership of Ann Arbor-based Seamless Collaborative, to provide the Village of Middleville with expert advice on how to respond to increased housing demands in the southwest Michigan region. This effort resulted in a market study and RFQ creation for a two- or three-story building with projected use configurations, estimated construction costs, and developer attraction materials.
