On the shores of Lake Michigan within walking distance of downtown Escanaba, a city-owned parcel and former County Jail lot were evaluated for a mixed-use redevelopment thanks to RRC Predevelopment Assistance technical assistance led by the League.Â
The League brought in the Seamless Collaborative team, working with EastArbor Architecture and LandUse USA, to provide Escanaba with data-driven advice and market analyses in response to rising demand for housing options located directly adjacent to the downtown core. In addition to these work products, the League worked with the City of Escanaba and their local partner Delta County to revise their existing RFP into a fresh new Request for Qualifications (RFQ). These local partners will use the RFQ to work with MEDC in soliciting dialogue and shared vision with a private developer, as well as to promote the design potential, business case, and estimated costs for the creation of multi-unit lakefront housing at this location.
