FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 8, 2020

U.S. Reps. Kildee, Upton host webinar on next round of federal COVID-19 assistance

Who: U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Flint) and U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph), and Michigan Municipal League staff and members.

What: Rep. Kildee is the lead sponsor, with Rep. Upton an original co-sponsor of the RELIEF for Main Street Act, creating a $50 billion fund to provide direct allocations to cities, counties and states to seed and scale small business local relief funds.

This assistance would provide funding to small businesses with fewer than 20 employees, minority-owned businesses, small businesses in low-income and rural communities, businesses outside the mainstream banking system, and tribal businesses.

When: Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10.

Where and How: Click this link to join the conference: https://www.anymeeting.com/AccountManager/RegEv.aspx?PIID=EE59D783834B3D

Why: Michigan’s communities are already active in helping their small businesses emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. This legislation would increase their ability to provide support using local government leaders’ knowledge of the local community.
