{"id":8975,"date":"2022-11-18T11:39:58","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T11:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.mml.org\/wp\/inside208\/?p=8975"},"modified":"2023-01-10T19:24:54","modified_gmt":"2023-01-10T19:24:54","slug":"thriving-communities-program-letter-of-interest-due-december-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/2022\/11\/18\/thriving-communities-program-letter-of-interest-due-december-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Thriving Communities Program: Letter of Interest Due December 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thriving Communities Program: <\/strong><em>Building Community Capacity to Take Transformative Projects from Concept to Completion<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funded with $25 million through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/2471\/text\">Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022<\/a>, the U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s (DOT) new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/grants\/thriving-communities\">Thriving Communities Program (TCP)<\/a> aims to ensure that disadvantaged communities adversely or disproportionately affected by environmental, climate, and human health policy outcomes have the technical tools and organizational capacity to compete for federal aid and deliver quality infrastructure projects that enable their communities and neighborhoods to thrive.<\/p>\n<p>TCP facilitates the planning and development of transportation and community revitalization activities and provides tools to ensure that under-resourced communities can access the historic funding provided in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/bipartisan-infrastructure-law\">Bipartisan Infrastructure Law<\/a> (BIL).<\/p>\n<p>The Thriving Communities Program will be administered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/buildamerica\/\">Build America Bureau<\/a> as part of its broader efforts to provide technical assistance to communities.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning in 2023, the Thriving Communities Program will provide technical assistance, planning, and capacity building support to teams of community partners that\u00a0may lack the staffing or technical expertise to scope, fund, and develop infrastructure projects that advance broader community goals.<\/p>\n<p>TCP will provide two years of deep-dive assistance to selected communities to help them plan and develop a pipeline of comprehensive transportation, housing, and community revitalization activities.<\/p>\n<p>There is no cost to receive this support but<strong> interested applicants must identify community partners and together <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/thriving-communities-program-letter-of-interest\"><strong>submit a Letter of Interest<\/strong><\/a><strong> (LOI) by December 6, 2022<\/strong>, to be considered for selection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learn More About the Call for Letters of Interest from the Links:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/grants\/thriving-communities\/information-for-technical-assistance-seekers\">View our Information for Communities page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/grants\/thriving-communities\/call-for-letters-of-interest-fy22\">View full requirements in the Call for Letters of Interest<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/grants\/thriving-communities\/webinars\">Attend an informational webinar or outreach event<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/grants\/thriving-communities\/how-to-apply\">Visit our How to Apply page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>John LaMacchia is the League\u2019s director of state &amp; federal affairs.
