As you may have seen in the news, Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist announced<\/a> that the state is embarking on a new and more detailed broadband data collection and mapping project. This project seeks to identify the location of broadband-related infrastructure that is capable of delivering high-speed internet service to Michigan\u2019s residents, businesses, institutions, and communities.<\/p>\n

This project is not a small undertaking, and is designed to ensure that the state knows where broadband infrastructure is and is not available to the address level so that Michigan can receive its fair share of broadband funding that is anticipated from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.<\/p>\n

The Governor’s office has reached out and is inviting local units of government to attend a webinar on March 29th<\/sup> to learn more about this project, the details of how the data will be collected, its role in current and future broadband investments, and how communities across Michigan communities can be involved.<\/p>\n

This webinar is designed specifically for local government, so please consider attending.<\/p>\n
