State Treasurer Nick Khouri and the legislative sponsors for SB 1025<\/a> and HB 6049 <\/a>are planning a series of “listening tour” forums this month to hear from local officials about ways to improve administration of property tax laws in Michigan.<\/p>\n

Following introduction and an initial committee hearing on the reform proposal earlier this year, the Treasurer and legislative advocates announced their intention<\/a> to continue working with the League and other local government organizations and relevant interest groups throughout the summer to try and address the feedback and concerns that have been raised with the initial proposal.<\/p>\n

Three forums around the state are planned during the month of August, with the first scheduled to take place in Gaylord on Tuesday, August 14th. Two other forums are being planned for west and southeast Michigan later in the month.\u00a0 We will share finalized details for these other meetings as soon as it is available.<\/p>\n

\nLocation: City Council Chambers, City of Gaylord, 305 East Main Street, Gaylord MI 49735<\/p>\n

Local officials are encouraged to attend and offer their concerns and ideas for improvement of the bills or the tax valuation\/administration process.\u00a0 If you plan to attend, please contact Chris Hackbarth to coordinate comments and suggestions.<\/p>\n
