{"id":2882,"date":"2014-02-12T16:58:29","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T20:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.mml.org\/wp\/inside208\/?p=2882"},"modified":"2014-02-12T16:58:29","modified_gmt":"2014-02-12T20:58:29","slug":"league-opposes-income-tax-reduction-in-house-tax-policy-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/2014\/02\/12\/league-opposes-income-tax-reduction-in-house-tax-policy-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"League Opposes Income Tax Reduction in House Tax Policy Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning the House Tax Policy Committee heard testimony on House Bills <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2013-2014\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2014-HIB-5265.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5265<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2013-2014\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2014-HIB-5266.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5266<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2013-2014\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2014-HIB-5267.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5267<\/a>, bills that would reduce the state income tax. House Bills 5265-6 would reduce the income tax from 4.25 percent to 4.05 percent. House Bill 5267 would allow additional reductions of 0.1 percent if general fund revenue increased by $300 million or more in the preceding fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The League opposes this legislation as we opposed <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.mml.org\/wp\/inside208\/2014\/01\/29\/league-opposes-income-tax-cut-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar legislation<\/a> in the Senate several weeks ago.
