{"id":2028,"date":"2013-06-07T15:59:33","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T19:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.mml.org\/wp\/inside208\/?p=2028"},"modified":"2013-06-07T15:59:33","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T19:59:33","slug":"medc-creates-grant-programs-for-farmers-markets-and-food-trucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/2013\/06\/07\/medc-creates-grant-programs-for-farmers-markets-and-food-trucks\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDC Creates Grant Programs for Farmers Markets and Food Trucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are looking to enhance your farmers market or know of someone looking to start a food truck business, be sure to touch base with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as they have created two new programs to assist with these very activities.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Mobile Cuisine Startup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michiganadvantage.org\/Public-Notices-Requests-for-Proposals\/Mobile-Cuisine-Start-Up-Program-2013-Request-for-Proposals\/\">Mobile Cuisine Startup<\/a> Program is equipped with $100,000 to assist new or existing food truck businesses.\u00a0 They will provide a one-time grant of up to $10,000. There must be matching funds of at least 25 percent as well as a viable business plan and registered to do business in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Farmers Market Grant\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michiganadvantage.org\/Public-Notices-Requests-for-Proposals\/Farmers-Market-Grant-Program-2013-Request-for-Proposals\/\">Farmers Market Grant Program<\/a> is aimed at assisting existing farmers markets (operating for at least four years) making the market more accessible to residents with a one-time grant of $10,000 to $50,000.\u00a0 There must be matching funds of at least 50 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for both the Mobile Cuisine Program and the Farmers Market Grant Program are due by July 1 with award winners being announced at the end of July.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on these two programs, please visit <a title=\"MEDC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michiganadvantage.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">michiganadvantage.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nikki Brown is a legislative associate for the League handling economic development and land use issues.
