Tomorrow afternoon the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee will be taking up HB 4589<\/a>, a bill that reinstates the long-standing two-inch rule for sidewalk liability.<\/p>\n

This rule was reversed by the Michigan Supreme Court in 2009, and the Michigan Municipal League has been working on legislation to address this concern for several years.<\/p>\n

House Bill 4589 passed the Michigan House of Representatives last summer, and the Michigan Municipal League worked on the legislation for several months with interested parties. The MIchigan Municipal League will be testifying in support of this legislation tomorrow.<\/p>\n
