Last week the House Judiciary Committee heard testimony from the Prosecutors on issues dealing with medical marijuana. The House Committee is specifically focusing on House Bills <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2011-HIB-4834.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4834<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2011-HIB-4851.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4851<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2011-HIB-4853.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4853<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/House\/pdf\/2011-HIB-4856.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4856<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They are exploring a number of concerns that have resulted from the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act (MMMA).<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee is also focusing on medical marijuana by taking up Senate Bills <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/Senate\/pdf\/2012-SIB-0933.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">933<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/documents\/2011-2012\/billintroduced\/Senate\/pdf\/2012-SIB-0974.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">974<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our communities have had a number of concerns in implementing this statute, and these bills seek to clarify some of the concerns expressed by those enforcing the statute.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the MMMA, please visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mml.org\/resources\/information\/mi-med-marihuana.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">League&#8217;s information page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Samantha Harkins works for the&nbsp;Michigan Municipal League handling  municipal services and energy and technology issues.&nbsp; She can be reached at 517-908-0306 or email  at <\/em><a href=\"mailto:sharkins@mml.org\"><em>sharkins@mml.org<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week the House Judiciary Committee held hearings on medical marijuana and this week the hearings continue in both chambers.
