{"id":1420,"date":"2012-03-22T10:03:00","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T15:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/advocacy\/inside208\/post\/House-Republicans-look-to-extend-current-transportation-act.aspx"},"modified":"2012-03-22T10:03:00","modified_gmt":"2012-03-22T15:03:00","slug":"house-republicans-look-to-extend-current-transportation-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/2012\/03\/22\/house-republicans-look-to-extend-current-transportation-act\/","title":{"rendered":"House Republicans look to extend current transportation act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With a March 31 deadline looming on the latest extension of the current federal transportation authorization act, it appears that House&nbsp;Republicans will&nbsp;pass a three month extension.<\/p>\n<p>Readers will recall that the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mml.org\/advocacy\/inside208\/post\/House-transportation-bill-remains-a-work-in-progress.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> House bill, H.R. 7<\/a>, failed to get off the House floor, while the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mml.org\/advocacy\/inside208\/post\/Transportation-bill-passes-Senate-Call-House-members-to-do-same!.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate passed its own bill,<\/a> S. 1813, to put in place a new two year authorization. That measure passed on a bi-partisan basis.<\/p>\n<p>At the time it looked the House Republicans might go along with the Senate proposal, and they still might, but for now leadership has decided to simply extend the old act for the ninth time.<\/p>\n<p>House members will be on break March 30-April 16.
