This morning, the House General Government Subcommittee on Appropriations passed out HB 5382, the budget bill which contains revenue sharing\/EVIP for 2012-13. The Committee increased the funding for statutory revenue sharing\/EVIP from the Governor’s proposal of $210 million to $220 million. In addition, they reduced the 3 year budget requirement as part of the dashboard to one year. They changed the Governor’s requirement for an additional consolidation\/collaboration project in the 2nd category so that a community can still qualify if they don’t have another project by explaining why that would not be feasable. And, under the House version, communities are compliant with the 3rd category as long as they are in compliance with the recently enacted PA 152. The bill still has a long way to go before it is law, and still needs to be negotiated with the Senate. However, the League is very happy with this progress and thinks it is critical that these requirements be more simplistic, as we have seen much confusion with the existing year’s language.<\/p>\n
