The bill, HB 5457 is sponsored by Rep. Heise (R-Plymouth). The League testified in opposition to the bill as an additional cut to local revenues. While this individual exemption may not be worth a significant amount of taxable value alone, coupled with many of the other tax exemption bills the committee has taken testimony on recently, in totality &#8211; the impact could be large. In addition, opening up exemptions to non-profits outside of charitable or governmental opens the door to many other organizations who could easy then ask to be included in exemptions.
