The FY 2028 federal budget apportioned for this program is estimated to be $22,953,000:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$14,953,000 for general HSIP<\/li>\n<li>$2,000,000 for streamlined systemic HSIP<\/li>\n<li>$6,000,000 for HRR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MDOT has released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdot\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/MDOT\/Business\/Local-Government\/Local-Agency-Program\/Special-Funding-Program\/Safety-Program\/Application-Process\/FY28-HSIP-HRRR-Call-Letter.pdf?rev=39ff163d439f4c4bb84ad6fc691486d9&amp;hash=60905EAF6903093C6336282B503F34FC\">call for projects letter<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdot\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/MDOT\/Business\/Local-Government\/Local-Agency-Program\/Special-Funding-Program\/Safety-Program\/Application-Process\/FY28-Local-Safety-CFP-Exhibits-Eligibility-Requirements.pdf?rev=7a3cbfa03c8641ffad0fb66de2eb8615&amp;hash=6B39932CBBB8CA783EF8ABED7640E64F\">eligibility requirements<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdot\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/MDOT\/Business\/Local-Government\/Local-Agency-Program\/Special-Funding-Program\/Safety-Program\/Application-Process\/FY28-Local-Safety-Application-Submittal-Sheet.pdf?rev=f5234ce379da492a9c1b0e830c5004fb&amp;hash=BD225D4CF7832EE80E3174B8EC437C31\">application submittal sheet<\/a>. Each of these documents can be found on the local agency page under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdot\/business\/local-government\/local-agency-program\/special-funding-program\">Special Funding Program<\/a> tab.<\/p>\n<p>Federal safety funds shall not exceed $1,500,000 per Local Agency for the fiscal year. Any non-selected HRRR projects will be automatically considered for general FY 2028 HSIP safety funds. Selected projects are to be obligated in FY 2028.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59pm on Friday, May 1, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications must be sent to <a href=\"mailto:MDOT-DesignLAP-Safety@Michigan.gov\">MDOT-DesignLAP-Safety@Michigan.gov<\/a>. A list of all submitted projects will be posted on the MDOT Local Agency Program (LAP) Special Funding Program website by Friday, May 15, 2026.
