It enables a powerful partnership between local governments and the state to improve access to housing that is attainable for residents. It supports investment to accelerate housing construction and rehabilitation, while also promoting updates to local zoning regulations that will both measurably increase housing supply and address affordability.<\/p>\n<p>House Bill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/Bills\/Bill?ObjectName=2026-HB-5660\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5660<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/Bills\/Bill?ObjectName=2026-HB-5661\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5661<\/a> are championed by Rep. Mark Tisdel (R-Rochester Hills) and Rep. Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) along with a dozen bi-partisan co-sponsors.
