It hit on the themes of working together in a bipartisan manner, touted accomplishments, and laid out a few priorities for the upcoming year that she stated in a simple fashion\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One\u2026 Costs.\u00a0Let\u2019s\u00a0make life more affordable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Two\u2026 Jobs.\u00a0Let\u2019s\u00a0create more opportunities to help people earn more money.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Three\u2026 Results.\u00a0Let\u2019s\u00a0make government work better for the people we all serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She touched on a couple top priorities for our members, housing and roads. On housing, she wants to make it easier to \u201cbuild, baby, build\u201d. It was also refreshing to hear her recognize that some of the barriers to buying a home include lending and supply.<\/p>\n<p>On road funding, she was very clear that the solution will require compromise, and to get it right,\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0all have to recognize some hard truths.\u00a0Here is how she put it\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To my friends in the GOP\u2026 a long-term fix means new, fair sources of revenue. We\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0cut our way to better roads by slashing public safety, health, or schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To my fellow Democrats\u2026 cuts will need to be a part of the solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To the business community\u2026 we\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0put this on the backs of the middle class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond that, she discussed streamlining state permitting, education, and the recent success of working on a bipartisan solution to address wages and paid leave.<\/p>\n<p>With the State of the State address and the Governor\u2019s budget proposal behind us, the House and the Senate will begin working on their individual budgets. We expect budget committees to begin meeting immediately and continue through the month of March.
