{"id":12553,"date":"2025-02-24T09:00:36","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T14:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/?p=12553"},"modified":"2025-02-21T08:06:29","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T13:06:29","slug":"federal-infrastructure-news-and-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mml.org\/inside208\/2025\/02\/24\/federal-infrastructure-news-and-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Infrastructure News and Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month the National League of Cities was asked to testify at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/transportation.house.gov\/calendar\/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=408033\">House Transportation Committee\u2019s kickoff hearing to reauthorize the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).<\/a><\/strong> Mayor Pro Tem Vanessa Fuentes from Austin, TX, the Chair of the NLC Transportation &amp; Infrastructure Services Committee, testified on behalf of NLC. IIJA greatly expanded the number of infrastructure programs local governments could access, but now we need to protect the local-federal partnership programs in the face of limited federal funding and tough scrutiny in the renewal process.<\/p>\n<p>To bolster the data behind every state\u2019s push to support ongoing federal investment in infrastructure, the NLC Research team has prepared a <a href=\"https:\/\/nlc.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9NCrchBgeCxLxrg\"><strong>new<\/strong> <strong>local infrastructure priorities survey<\/strong><\/a> where we encourage every city and village to make their most needed infrastructure project known before <strong>March 12<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>. The goal is to have every state\u2019s representation resulting in national report out of the nation\u2019s most pressing city infrastructure needs and state-by-state breakouts for Senators and State Leagues for use for state-level work.<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan Municipal League is helping NLC promote this survey to our members.
