This morning Governor Snyder presented his 2014 budget recommendations. The recommendations include increased funding for transportation but no increase for the economic vitality and incentive program (EVIP).<\/p>\n

You can view the recommendations on the State Budget Office’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The budget includes the Governor’s proposal for an additional $1.2 billion in transportation funding. This revenue will be increased by increasing the gas tax and registration fees. Those bills were introduced last week<\/a>. The League supports this incresae in funding, and we will continue to push for changes to the PA 51 formula as well to divert additional funds to communities.<\/p>\n

There is no increase in the statutory EVIP program. While constitutional revenue sharing is increasing by 4 percent, the Governor is not recommending an increase in the EVIP program.<\/p>\n

The Governor is, however, recommending a 2 percent increase to K-12 education, universities and community colleges.<\/p>\n
