This morning the Senate Reforms, Restructuring and Reinventing Committee considered SB 173<\/a>, a bill that would prohibit local units of government from passing an ordinance or policy requiring private employers to mandate either paid or unpaid leave time for its employees.<\/p>\n

The committee heard additional testimony and received a number of amendments from the Democratic members of the Senate. The committee recessed without voting but may reconvene later today.<\/p>\n

While we do not know of any communities who have such policies or are interested in passing such policies, the legislation violates local control, and the League opposed the legislation.<\/p>\n
