The Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) has announced it will be hosting two informational sessions on the clean-up criteria for multiple substances in the PFAS chemical family.
The first webinar – scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, November 2 – will present the statutory and rule process that must be followed to establish any generic clean up criteria, when no current criteria is present.
The second webinar – scheduled for 1 p.m. November 16 – will serve as a follow up to present the results of the first part of the process to calculate generic cleanup criteria for groundwater used as drinking water for PFNA, PFHxS, PFHxA, PFBS and HFPO-DA or Gen X.
A three-week public comment period will follow the second meeting to allow interested parties to submit written comments on if the process for establishing the criteria for the regulations under Part 201. The department will review and consider the comments prior to publishing and promulgating enforceable groundwater cleanup criteria for these substances.
