National League of Cities Rail Safety Sign-On Letter

Posted on March 8, 2023 by John LaMacchia

The tragic events in East Palestine, OH, have resulted in a bipartisan push to pass needed rail safety legislation in the United States Senate. This is an issue close to home for many communities in Michigan that have rail assets.

Recently, the National League if Cities sent this detailed rail safety letter to Congress. They have also stood up a simple city sign-on letter to ask Congress to act on rail safety so that city leaders can show their individual support. For those that may be impacted by this issue, we would like to ask for you to sign on to this letter. The goal is to get as many cities as possible to sign-on as the Senate will begin to hold a hearings on the issue this week.

John LaMacchia is the League’s director of state & federal affairs. He can be reached at [email protected] or 517-908-0303.
