Register Today for Michigan Municipal League’s 2023 CapCon Happening April 18-19!

Posted on February 10, 2023 by Matt Bach

Registration is now open for the Michigan Municipal League’s premiere legislative conference – CapCon – taking place April 18-19 in Lansing and we have a packed agenda for you on the issues you most care about – housing, legislative activity, hiring practices, addressing homelessness, and more.

Every year, the League crafts an event that prepares members for navigating and capitalizing on current policies. This year is about Maximizing the Moment, and we’ll show you how to do just that over two days of general sessions, breakout sessions, networking, and time with legislators.

You’re invited to learn how to better advocate for your community, engage with policymakers, and influence the legislative process.

Already we have a full (and expanding) agenda. Session topics planned at the conference include Housing, Housing, Housing! How are Key State Agencies Taking Steps to Address Michigan’s Housing Needs; the League’s Legislative team breaking down the bills and topics of high interest to our members; Unlocking the Potential of New Housing Tools in Your Community; Get Creative: How to Thoughtfully Innovate Your Hiring Practices; Using Barrier Free Design to Address Equity Issues; Addressing Homelessness at the Community Level; Straight from the Source: Michigan Department of Treasury Shares the Latest on Issues Impacting Local Government; and much more.

Also, back by popular demand is our breakfast with legislator’s event sponsored by the Michigan Association of Mayors. If you’re attending the conference and plan to attend the legislative breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. April 19, be sure to use this online tool in our Action Center to personally invite your state senator and representative to join you at the breakfast.

In this year’s General Sessions, you’ll hear speakers from:

  • Michigan State Housing Development Authority
  • Office of Rural Development
  • Michigan Economic Development Corporation
  • State Land Bank
  • Community Economic Development Association of Michigan
  • The League’s State and Federal Affairs Department
  • And other leading Michigan organizations

 Breakout education sessions planned include:

  • Lobbying (Basics and Advanced)
  • Using Barrier Free Design to Address Equity Issues
  • Innovate Your Hiring Practices
  • Addressing Homelessness
  • And more

Shaping the success of Michigan’s future starts with you and your voice. See how to maximize the moment by attending this year’s event.

We look forward to seeing you in Lansing this April!
