ACTION Needed As Federal Negotiations Continue Into Weekend

Posted on April 18, 2020 by Dene Westbrook

Earlier today our partners at the National League of Cities shared that negotiations between Congressional Republicans, Democrats, and Treasury Secretary Mnunchin on an interim stimulus proposal were coming to a head this weekend.  Speaker Pelosi and Senator Schumer continue to press for direct federal aid to states and all local governments be included alongside any additional infusion of funding for small businesses being contemplated for this week.

If you have not contacted your member of Congress, especially Republican members of the House, please do so today.  These negotiations are likely to result in Congressional action this coming week!

Here is the alert that NLC sent out this afternoon.  Please click on the TAKE ACTION link below.  Thank you for your engagement!

Call for Local Funding in Stimulus 3.5 Package

NLC is working closely with our champions in Congress to make sure the interim Emergency Coronavirus Package includes a fair and direct allocation of federal funds to each and every local government regardless of population.

This is likely our last opportunity to add state and local aid to the package currently before Congress. Local leaders, you must reach out to your Members of Congress today and tomorrow to urge them to support a bipartisan package that includes funding for Small Businesses AND State and Local Governments.

Don’t take, ‘Let’s wait for a 4th stimulus bill’ as an answer! The time is now. We can make this happen with your help.
