If you are a regular reader of this Inside 208 blog, then you know how awesome the Michigan Municipal League’s legislative advocacy work is. But do you also know about some of the League’s other outstanding programs? For example, do you know about our risk management/insurance programs?
It literally pays to be a member of the Michigan Municipal League’s risk management programs. Since its inception, our programs have refunded a combined $272 million dollars to member community participants! And another $15 and a half million is expected to be paid out to members next year.
How do we do this? Because we aren’t an insurance company working for our shareholders. We are working for you. When our member communities improve safety and reduce risk, they benefit. Not their insurance carrier.
Now is as good time as any to thank the two boards of our insurance programs and its leaders (pictured) – Christine Burns, Spring Lake Village Manager and chair of the Worker’s Compensation Fund Board of Trustees and David Post, Hillman Village Manager and chair of the Liability and Property Pool Board of Directors. It’s through their leadership and the hard work among the participating members that make this possible.
Is your community a member of these programs? If not, it should be.
