As part of the 2015 Transportation Package, the Michigan Legislature required all local road agencies to adopt the Local Agency Pavement Warranty Program on or before September 18, 2019. All agencies must use the “master” warranty documents developed by a CRA-Michigan Municipal League Warranty Work Group and approved by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
The Warranty Program requires that an agency administering any project with $1.8 million or more in paving-related components that includes any amount of state or federal funds must consider using pavement warranty provisions.
A federal State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) grant has been secured, which the Michigan Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) is using to create warranty training tools.
Training is organized into 5 modules, available at michiganltap.org/pavement-warranties. The two introductory Modules, 1 (14 minutes) and 2 (25 minutes), are available now.
