The election is over. You have heard the results, but how did Michigan Municipal League members do? We have the answers.

There are eighteen former League members in the House of Representatives. There will be six new members joining the House for the 97th legislative session.  That will make 24 total former Leage members in the House of Representatives.  Below is the list:

Non-Incumbents Elected:

·         41st – Martin Howrylak, former Troy City Council member

·         52nd – Gretchen Driskell, Saline mayor

·         69th – Sam Singh, former Mayor of East Lansing

·         74th – Rob VerHeulen, Mayor of Walker

·         109th – John Kivela – Mayor of Marquette

·         110th – Scott Dianda – Village of Calumet Trustee and President

Incumbents Re-Elected:

·         12th – Doug Geiss

·         13th – Andrew Kandrevas

·         15th – George Darany

·         19th – John Walsh

·         22nd – Harold Haugh

·         31st – Marilyn Lane

·         34th – Woodrow Stanley

·         37th – Vicki Barnett

·         38th – Hugh Crawford

·         43rd – Gail Haines

·         45th – Tom McMillan

·         49th – Jim Ananich

·         50th – Charles Smiley

·         60th – Sean McCann

·         61st – Margaret O’Brien

And on a personal note, I was elected to the House of Representatives from the 68th House District.  While not a former Mayor or Councilmember, I hope that you will count me as a former League member that will remember the importance of communities and place as a member of the Legislature!
