MDOT Seeks Input on New Federal Transportation Funding Model, MAP-21

Posted on September 18, 2012 by Dene Westbrook

Recently the League staff attended a meeting with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to discuss how they intend to implement the new federal transportation funding law, MAP-21, which Congress passed this summer. The new law makes several changes to the categories on federal funding and provides some additional flexibility in how those funds are passed through and spent. MDOT has prepared an initial draft of how they plan to get funds to locals and is seeking feedback. These decisions have to be made soon, so please provide feedback as soon as possible to myself or Jason Mancini. We can be reached at [email protected] or [email protected]

Attached are two documents. The first is a chart explaining how the federal categories have changed. The second is a document that MDOT prepared which shows how they suggest passing through the funds. We look forward to hearing from you!
