Althought the House and Obama administration have each put forward their vision of the federal budget for fiscal year 2013, no one expects much to happen until after the November election.
This of course means election year politics will play a heavy hand in what the presumptive Republican nominee, Governor Romney, and President Obama say over the next six months. It also means that local officials have a great opportunity to speak with their congressional representatives about the 2013 budget.
Members are urged to encourage Congress to take a balanced approach to the budget. Be sure to speak to your representative about the importance of various federal programs you have used to improve quality of living in your community. A sample resolution is also available for councils to adopt.
