Flint and Harper Woods Officials to Lead Statewide Organization
Michigan Women in Municipal Government Also Names Board Members
ANN ARBOR, Michigan — The Michigan Women in Municipal Government (MWIMG) recently named their officers and board members for the statewide organization.
The MWIMG membership selected Flint City Council President Monica Galloway as its new president and Valerie Kindle, mayor of Harper Woods, as its new vice president. Saginaw Mayor Pro Tem Brenda F. Moore was selected to serve on the MWIMG board. They join on the MWIMG governing body secretary Jennifer Shuster, city clerk of the City of East Lansing, and board member Maria Willett, special assistant to the mayor in Rochester Hills. Shuster and Willett were reappointed to their positions.
Galloway succeeds Kindle as president. The selections were done during the organization’s meeting Friday, Oct. 2, during the Michigan Municipal League’s 2020 virtual Convention.
“I am honored to help lead this organization for the next year,” Galloway said. “With so much happening in society today, now is an ideal time to continue to do whatever we can to advance women leaders in local government.”

Michigan Women in Municipal Government (MWIMG) is a statewide organization of women serving in local government focusing on the critical roles of development of women in leadership; recognition of achievement; providing training; and mentoring to those seeking positions in local government.
